‘Flecky Bennett’ is not a tour guide. He is an actor giving a one-man show
with the historical backgrounds of the tour as his stage sets. It is thus more of
an experience than a tour. He is an Equity member – and it shows!
Anecdote, dialogue with tour members, exchanges of near insults, using tour members as assistants – all great devices of the stage were used to great effect
His grotesque appearance added to the fun of the evening – but most of all – he had a strong and commanding voice that demanded attention. Gestures, changes of voice, pointing, using the umbrella and sword all added to the non-stop drama show of this one man street theatre.
The eerie nature of some of the back lanes and alleys added to the feeling that almost anything could happen – especially so in the courtyard of the Town Hall
"Flecky" pithy, forthright, somewhat scurrilous, but always vastly entertaining
